Coin (March)

Each fortnight the online transfer of bank figures is enacted. Next morning, notes ready, only if needs be we add some metal discs to our wallet, for coffee or other minor transactions. On the third Sunday in Lent (March 8^th this year) we hear about Jesus: “Making a whip out of some cord, he drove them all out of the Temple, cattle and sheep as well, scattered the money changers’ coins, knocked over their tables…” &c. We picture them in a sword-and-sandal epic, bouncing over the Jerusalem cobbles. Faith, fortune, home, food, society, past and future, there in the balance.
