Double (April)

Cervantes and Shakespeare both died in April 1616. Who else in London could turn ‘Don Quixote’ into drama while Cervantes was still alive? Texas research ‘proves’ a play called ‘Double Falsehood’ must have been written by Shakespeare and Fletcher. It’s ‘Cardenio’, performed by the King's Men (1613), written within a year of ‘Don Quixote’ first appearing in English. Tradition calls 'The Tempest' the final play, but what was he doing when he opted out of London in his last four years? The sheer speed of production: could Marlowe do that? Jonson? We are such stuff as dreams are made on.
